How is it going for you in this 2009? I know I am reinventing my own life...again. I guess I should say returning--with boot marks on my Divine Behind to Hollywood!

My beloved HOLLYWOOD IS CALLING to my own heart again, after a long hiatus from her!  I am about to write a love letter to Hollywood!

My life is now focused on not only continuing to give the solutions people are looking for, but also to point to some options for living a better, getting more healthy, being happy, and living a more expanded, and consciously beautiful life.

This new BLOG is also now including stories from my nearly 3 decades of my successful Hollywood acting, music, and more...career--peppered with life experiences, insights, tips, and my own heart's wisdom awakening!

POST 19: The Unspoken Truth About Waking Up--Has Your Journey Becomes Your Illusion and Obstacle?

PIERCING THE MYSTERY... UNCOVERING OUR DIVINE SELF!

What is our life-s journey all about anyway? What IS the truth about why our awakening journey isn't easier? What is the point of all the difficulty to wake up?

People ask me, and wonder why life is just SO messy and SO hard? Why aren't more people happy, and why does awful stuff happen to wonderful people?

Well, this journey, its mysteries, and its ups and downs as we move through our human life, is filled with tremendous challenges, upsets, fear, indecision and disappointments. These are along side the highs, joys, courage, certainty and serendipitous events. This is called duality...opposites occurring at the same time.

Students will often bemoan the fact that their life hasn't turned out as their dream board would promise, or their affirmations would have made them believe. As they get closer to loving, and being authentic, open-hearted and transparent, the 'fire' of awakening singes our ego more deeply and thoroughly. 

WHY THIS TOPIC?

After working for many years as both a releasing instructor, retreat leader, and spiritual coach or guide, I thought I would address this conundrum most people eventually find themselves in and unexpected challenges of the heart, mind, and emotions that is now welcome when people are on the 'seeking' freedom path. 

The SPIRITUAL PATH is the non path...yet the Only path...

This post may make several 'minds' that have a fixed idea of this spiritual journey and inner peace seeking expectations very angry and frustrated. But addressing what actually unfolds in people's lives is more important than any reaction to what I will share today.

There is a popular myth about letting go, releasing and surrender. It is easy to wake up through letting go. True, and False.

True, because the art of surrender and the ultimate letting go of our identification with what is false is necessary for self-realization to 'dawn' upon us is already Here...but false, because it isn't our 'doing' that makes the shift and opening of our heart...that is the myth--that we think we are the doer. The word method or technique is part of the disillusionment. It is our non-doing and unlearning, or un-method-ing that finally creates the space for love to find us.

To reiterate, the myth is that you have to 'do' something, and that if you 'do' this 'thing' it will simply make you become enlightened.

WHO is becoming enlightened? Find out.

In addition to there, there is the mind-meld of belief systems about awakening that proliferate in our quick-fix, 'you and to it' culture. Just believe, just try harder, just think and imagine your way home.

The ideas, discussions, books and speakers over decades and of following those who profess these things are endless. The treachery of this clever mind has no bounds, and no shame. Bottom line: everything you have heard is a lie.

The age old illusion of thinking we know the answers, that our knowledge will eventually lead us to enlightenment, and that the mind keeping us safe from harm, only works when the bus is barreling down the road and we have the good sense to step back and get out of the way. In this human life, instinct can save us, and  protects us from physical harm. This is well and good, and as it should be.

However, in the dance with the Divine, on the journey to awakening to our True Nature, we do not have that luxury. This is where all of the ideas are like specks of dust in a windstorm.

Ah the brass rings of Enlightenment, freedom, illumination, and liberation.

Or health, wealth, success, power, fame and making a difference in the world as we serve 'humanity'---these are the Holy Grail of marketing and of the materialistic world. Nothing wrong with any or all, however who is it that is wanting it, and where are you living from in order to journey through this life?

This is a Great Mystery...waking up. And, knowing what will keep us from FEELING, and HAVING THE FIRE OF TRUTH race through our life and destroy everthing we hold dear and sacred. The desire for this elusive thing called freedom.

Truth does much more than just singe our wings but this fact isn't revealed to us along the way. It clips them.

I have been privileged to work with helping people align with their own natural letting go abilities. It is called releasing, or other things, but it is NOT a method or a technique, and it has been unfortunate to have those words be in the description of what is neither. 

True Releasing happens when we are not effort-ing, not 'doing anything' and when we stop! Releasing is natural, it is not contrived, and if it is, it isn't true letting go...it is like putting 'false tears' in our eyes to eliminate dry-eye syndrome...it is a trick.

How The Mind Interprets Words and Delay our Loving Nature to be Revealed to us. Concepts are not the answer.

THE MYSTERY OF LETTING GO:

When letting go becomes a method, technique, and a path, the 'way' is already lost. The surrender is already there, and all of the effort and chasing is the dust that is covering over your True Nature.  When letting go or surrender becomes a strategy, a doing, or a task to master, it has only become a 'strategy for survival of the mind'. It is simply being clever, in a more sophisticated way. Taking the top off of something is not getting to the depth in order to surrender the Denial of the Self.

Why? Most people have so successfully stuffed their feelings, hurt, anger, rage, sadness, loss, regret, pomposity, and apathy, that the feeling-meter is fried from overheating due to the avoidance of knowing what we really feel.

Scratch just under the surface of anyone willing, and you will find the gremlins, demons, and guards at the gate of their heart. I have seen this in all of the work I have done, and every student who has ever attended my classes or worked privately. We will only go SO far before bailing out, back into the illusion, now more cleaned up, but simply a 'new and improved' worldly illusion...not reality.

Reality...that is simply too scary for most seekers of Truth. Seekers what 'their version' of truth--not actual Reality.

This article is about reality, about things that most teachers don't share with students, and especially don't say to those who think they have arrived because they are on a 'high of helping others' or have a fat bank account, and their rhetoric is aligned with how people are talking about spiritual things. All hogwash, but don't let me stop you from reading on.

For many years I have been writing about the reality of Self-Realization, and the mystery of Love, Awareness, and Living and Awakened Life.

Today, I take aim at the entire idea of this concept that has turned into a multi-million dollar business of deception, illusion, and seduction. During this past few months my private students have found that opening their hearts, and awakening to their True Nature, is like walking blindfolded, and on hot coals, never knowing which way to go, or if the arising of what is false will ever end.

Most spiritually-oriented students think that if they manipulate their mind and their emotions, think a certain way and take certain actions...wala---love will hit them in them in the face like a pie thrown in a comedy with the Ritz Brothers.

There is good news and bad news--for our 'idea' of what awakening our hearts really means and what it entails. The good speeches, chats, satsangs, and enlightened conversations, or intellectual discussions are still just babble from the mind. Unless we dive in and do our work and walk through places within ourselves we have truly dared to tread, we cannot awaken to who and what we Truly Are. Some of us are thicker than others and need a few more 18-wheelers to knock us off of our holier than thou pedestal.

Are you one of those?

I was certainly at least that stubborn, and it was the equal energy to my desire to know Truth, who I am, and the reality of what disappears within you on this journey, most people are not prepared to sacrifice. All lies, all that is false must go. This means the 'you' that is walking around, all accomplished, leading others, puffed up with self-importance, and trying to make a difference. Hm...make a difference by eliminating all that has been fortified with what is false, our mind, our ego, and our closed heart.

Recently, I have discovered that some of the 'most enlightened' so they say, are the most dense--yet the most innocent are the most transparent. This is how Love, and that which is beyond all understanding, works...it comes to the heart that is innocent, not 'super-wise' and not knowledgable. It comes to the pure heart.

We can be clever, have tricks, and even have some human/psycho-spiritual powers to impress others, but that is not a pure heart...that is a clever heart.Most 'seekers of Truth' do NOT want to know the downside, fallout, reality, or side-effects of their heartfelt and sincere journey.

I speak about it in this way, because in nearly 30 years of working with people, helping them 'let go' and opening to more love and wisdom...people hit solid rock walls and roadblocks withing themselves and just don't know why. Everyone wants to believe that this is some kind of treasure hunt that has no bumps and bruises, and that if we truly, truly, truly believe, and follow someone we revere, that it will be like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, and it will all turn out with flowers, friends, and everyone skipping down the road with the orchestra swelling to a crescendo.

Not so fast...for wanting freedom is only the very first step into the abyss of the unknown.

Yes, UNKNOWN!

OK I will stop sugarcoating it:) Coming home to our awakened heart is not for the faint of heart. Many people revere and quote the sages, teachers, books and scriptures, in hopes that the 'seeking' and 'repetition of what others have said' will take them Home. 

That isn't how Love works, to bring us back to Itself.

Love is a ruthless mistress, Truth is a ruthless mistress, and the lie of lack and our clever mind will do whatever it can to keep us in the mist of ignorance and worldly illusion. We don't like to feel, and we don't like to be uncomfortable.

Well Truth doesn't care about our wishes, when it is time for us to open, feel, and have the fire of truth burn through what is false...we have no say in the matter. We just hold on for dear life, and think that what we have learned, meditation, letting go, releasing tricks, and jumping into a silent peaceful 'state' to escape from the raging fire of Truth...will save us.

Ah what a folly this seeking and ignorant mind projects as it takes us on the journey through this life.What happens after years of 'working it', of 'releasing' and of 'believing that we are free', or comparing ourselves to those we 'think' are more advanced...falls apart.

Post 18: SURROGATES...Bruce Willis: A Film Review and Commentary from A Conscious Heart.

SURROGATES is a new film starring Bruce Willis.

This film is a great ride, and one that reveals the 'covert ride' that too many people are already on, often unconsciously, while striving to become something other than who they are, in this world. The film is a sweet trick of the mind adventure film. Ah "if wishes were horses, then beggars could ride" as the saying goes. We all wish for that eternal youth and beauty, and the magic of shape-shifting when we get into a sticky spot in life.

Ah to dematerialize at will and keep Aladdin's Lamp in our pocket.

As a writer and teacher, I will 'sprinkle the spiritual' throughout this commentary and review. I hope you enjoy it, and that it gives you a bit of 'pause' for consideration in your own life.

Willis does a brilliant job of playing himself as a man lost in sorrow and loss, and his alter-ego red-haired surrogate, all the while struggling with the reality of life and the failure to escape being human, his own 'real' life. He is living in a house-divided through grief, which is often the case with parents whose children do not outlive them. 

Alter-ego surrogate to the rescue. Have you ever had that snap-of-the-fingers, wiggle-the-nose desire yourself? Admit it:)

If we could but think it and reverse events in our world, like Superman could do.  This film will get you thinking about nooks and crannies of your own life...and the messy spots swept under the proverbial rug.

THE COMMENTARY:

Even with this advanced pseudo-human machinery fixing things--consequence-free, tricking our life, our desires, and our senses, giving us yet one more place to hide from painful reality--in a mechanized 'all-that-I-wish-I-could-be surrogate creation ...we can never fully escape being human. we can only escape in fantasy for a little while.

This is pure entertainment to fan the flame of that escapism habit, but more so, that overwhelming desire TO escape our life. Of course work-a-holic's will deny they are escaping anything. Just ask one.

What are we escaping?

Connection to the consequences of our humanness. The consequence of being ordinary, of feeling like a failure, feeling hurt, unworthy, lost, wounded, insecure and afraid of what is unknown, unplanned, or out of our control. The consequence of being a feeling, decision-making, tender, visible, present, connected, and vulnerable human Being, impacted by what we think, feel, react to, and do in this life.

The phrase, 'we are spiritual beings, living a human live' doesn't soothe a beaten psyche, or embattled heart, it only make one feel worse for being so very imperfect. It is too far a reach to even contemplate that as reality, when life has beaten you up, and your inner resources are thin. This is why people live escapist lives, are on Prozac, and depression drugs, ill, and acting out unmet emotional debris like crazy people these days. The world is on tilt from emotions running wild and people will do whatever they can to stop the madness within.

In addition, we have to be on even better behavior than before, while feeling more controlled by life-circumstances and others who seem to hold our destiny or security in their hands. We tip-toe through the mine-field of suppression in order to survive. Don't rock boats, or someone will sink yours. People are more than just 'one-paycheck' away from the street of blues--they are playing a mind shell-game every day while co-opting others into their drama.

What follows a life of drama and self-deception? Crashing.

In many cases of people I work with on a weekly basis, until they get a grip from within, an apathetic life. Also, it isn't pretty, acceptable, or politically correct to be angry, or revengeful, fearful, experiencing seemingly never-ending grief, or feel apathetic about life, so we hide 'that' part of our actual personality and psychology. We are programmed to 'treat' it with drugs and numb ourselves further.

This film is a great reflection of the direction our society has taken well down the path of manifesting robotic lifestyles. After all, we are grown up now and simply stuff it--especially if watching THE SECRET for the 100th time, or reading the Law Of Attraction stepping stones find you sinking even lower in your life. Now you are also a failure at implementing the Divine Laws.

How bad can it get, people ask me? Do I need to crash and burn, in order to resurrect? Well, sometimes it is like that, and the life circumstances and events truly are beyond our control. How do we know how our destiny, lessons, learning, and redemption will come? In the rear-view mirror, we finally 'get it'.

How can one be a Spiritual being living a human life, if the spiritual laws can't even be lived to manifest this elusive thing called 'happiness'? 

Happiness sounds like utopia although every step, action, word, and deed, people are looking for just that...to be happy. This film highlights the magical thinking that is put up in front of us as if shopping for the next sweater or pair of pants. Let's try on a surrogate, and 'get happier'. We do it all day long. Change the channel, call someone, watch a comedy to change our mood, have some chocolate, hit Starbucks, go to a meeting in order not to be alone. We are shifting our consciousness in order to be happy.

In SURROGATES, we get to see what we do, in living color, and in such an acceptable way, that when the system 'fails', only then do we see what we have created. That is a great scene.

Life is what it is and everyone's psyche, ability to cope, need to disappear, or emotional lack of well being reveal themselves under strain. People simply snap. People go crazy, come out of hiding, reveal themselves, and even flip out from self-judgment when shifting consciousness, kicking in shakti, or Kundalini. We all want to escape, it is just that some escapes are more acceptable and less messy than others. Let's escape into beauty, into bliss, and into pseudo-perfection, that is at least in a 'good direction' right?

But, when a 'good' one fails, then we are really in trouble. When a son or daughter joins a religion, or community, or herd of others seeking the light of awareness, not all roads lead to where we plan.

Over the past 2 to 3 years, I have worked with clients whose concerned, and wiser parents confiscated all things The Secret and Law of Attraction, after putting their child into a mental hospital, and on heavy drugs and medication after flipping out, Granted, no one would point to a book or series as a 'seduction' into the dark night of the soul experience, yet, there are many catalysts...and not achieving what others say is ordinary and natural can certainly push people over an edge.

This woman had been working with very successful and well-known marketing mentors, and was overloaded with books, workbooks, accountability assignments, calls, and affirmations, trying to make all of it work, and instead was met with having everything in opposition to it, come like gremlins out of the gutter to greet her and roll over her like a tidal wave from hell. This happens more than people will admit when they are seeking to make changes.

We only 'think' we are grown up, in fact, most people I find are living the surrogate life, or have surrogates in their lives, taking the focus OFF of what is actually the reality in their own life.

We are never grown up, unless we wake up out of this numbness and unconscious slumber.

But wait, as a surrogate, we don't have consequences or consciousness that one needs to worry about when a freshly minted image is playing the role of us in a 'phone-it-in' life experience. We get to be fake, and new and improved at the same time. We are numbness itself, and it is OK because everyone else is doing it, too.

In fact it is beautiful, and untouched by life's emotional messiness. As a successful surrogate, we are person-by-proxy, in a life-by-design--distant, detached and dead. We are dead pretending to be alive. This is the life people live in more ways than people care to admit. Living dead.

SURROGATES has elements of The Firm, Pleasantville, and several others plus the pseudo-spiritual leaders, pretending to be what they are not while mesmerizing a flock, all rolled into one. Our mind is a double-agent, playing whatever role we need, in order to keep us locked into the lie of self-deception. It plays 'good cop and bad cop' all at the same time, depending upon which button is pushed in our subconscious programming.

But with pretense and surrogacy, we can be a super-star, super-hero, super-brain, super-leader, super-world saver, super-achiever, and super-perfect without the scars that living a human life can often leave. Never mind that the crumbling of the illusion is taking our soul with it unless we wake up out of this diabolical dream.

There are layers of protection in being a surrogate, and it is safe, so we keep playing the game, lifetime after lifetime. That is another topic.

The mind is a bottomless pit of creativity. If we get hurt, we get rewired by the geek wizard, and our host simply disconnects, and walks away having had an adventure--or bailing out if things get too dicey. Nothing can go wrong---can go wrong---can go wrong. We fool ourselves as long as we can with the fantasy in our mind. Eventually we lose sight of what is real and what is unreal and we can no longer tell what is true and what isn't. Our former compass becomes a stone around our neck weighing us down, and leading us nowhere.

Have you noticed that there is 'reasonable doubt' about aspects of your own life? Everyone has them, no matter how beautiful, successful, rich, famous, or powerful.

Surrendering into this film is like living through a lucid dreaming adventure and spinning a yarn while we watch, yet untouched by reality of the drama unfolding. Most people are living a life where there is ONLY reality of the drama. As slumbering humans, we live most of our lives like this in ways we cannot see, for the programming and conditioning of our subconscious mind protects us from showing what is really behind the curtain in OZ.

We are pulling the strings ourselves, pretending as if we are being victimized.

As a surrogate, we have no real stake in any outcome. What a relief? It is temporary which is why we are a quick-fix, fast-food, adrenaline and thrill-seeking society. Just ask anyone coming off of a 'high' that is euphoric, chemical, meditative in a state of bliss, food rush altered, energetically zapped, out of their mind or out of touch in some way, or even one manufactured through a false experience for ego-satisfaction. A fix is a fix.

We crash and burn when the rush is over and seek the next high as quickly as possible. In this film, one wonders who the good guys and the bad guys really are.

THE REVIEW:

SURROGATES is worth reviewing and giving a perspective from my own experience and observation, and from a 'higher' more consciously-aware perspective. This is how I view ALL films, from the vantage of a conscious heart. This film is a pure joy for me and pure satsang.

SURROGATES is a beautifully designed film to reflect the choice people make as technology seduces us into a land of escape from being real, present, and feelings that being human cause us to experience. It is clever, sleek, well-done, and revealing if you will see beyond the powerful visual special effects for they are often breath-taking in the impact they are meant to have upon our emotions.

During this film, we are taken to a kind of utopia.

Ah, create an alter-ego, younger, perfection-by-design, and the ultimate lab for beauty, fitness, and without human flaws. Therein lies the 'rub' as they say. Humans, by nature ARE imperfect, sensitive, feel, are vulnerable, and suffer. In this film these inconveniences are avoided when we are attached to and live life, through a surrogate...one who lives the life 'out there' while WE are safely hidden away in a lounger with headgear.It is the kind of deception that we attempt every day without knowing it.

We hide in our mind, in our conditioning, in our attitudes and opinions, about ourselves and others. We live our life in suffering and regardless of the 'shiny tricks' of the external are quietly desperate with just a scratch under the thin surface.

As a life counselor, spiritual guide and author, I often meet first-hand this phenomenon in every human being who is my student or client. No one's life is one that is fully embraced. Everyone hides. Everyone has pain the don't want to feel, and everyone would LOVE to just be someone else, and let the one we are just go away.

We feel often that our own life is just too complicate, too messed up, or too blatantly overwhelming...so what a dream to 'dream up' a surrogate to live that beautiful life we don't seem to be able to get a handle on---right? Wrong.

The surrogates are dead, don't exist, are a figment of a technological mind of nuts, bolts, and circuitry, and the flesh and blood one sitting in the lounge with head-gear is in escape mode, doing one's best to handle the stress of being a human at all. Humans age, they hurt, they suffer, they have painful life experience, and they have a rainbow of emotions like riding a bucking bronco or a screaming roller coaster that simply will never slow down or stop.

There is never an end to the ride until our last breath.

Some people do better at manipulating their creative mind, imaging, and closing the gap between themselves and their dream or ideal scene idea, but that doesn't make the surrogate the true alternative to existing as a real, authentic, honorable, and yes, flawed human being.

As we discover we are caught in the dream, we cry for more clarity, for more presence, and become more aware, the more alive. The more one wants authenticity, the more what is false, fake, and inauthentic causes pain--well beyond a normal human feeling kind of suffering. This is a suffering of a knowing Soul...playing as if it is real, in what is fake.

This is the Spiritual Journey of awakening.

The Bruce Willis character walks this tightrope. It is like living in two world's as reversed from the 6th Sense. He chooses roles that cause him to choose or wake up to the life he is actually in. Interesting myth he plays in his collection of films. Most of the time, his character solves, resolves, or forces a solution that rocks people's world. This will not disappoint if you like his approach and film choices. His myth is exposing what appears to be real, but is not and he is constantly shattering reality as it is accepted by others.

In this film he represents us as a collective.

We face ourselves, our pain, our failings, our mistakes, our hurts, our anger, defensiveness, rage, falseness, unworthiness, stubbornness, unforgiveness--simply put: our humanness.This awareness-ing journey is hard work, demand courageousness, and asks everything of us. It says, "show yourSelf". Wake Up. Be Real. Let go of who and what your are not. In this film, the journey takes us into the latest, greatest seduction of escaping what is so very imperfect about life. It is a sleek shape-shifting ride and experience.

It matters not who we are, for we can be any age, and either gender. We can ride 2 horses in this film, with Bruce's vulnerability, anger, determination, and intensity, without splitting apart...at least for a while.

His character softens the blow for us while we get to escape our own lives and you may wonder who is living your own life, you, or a surrogate?

That period of his numbed escapism eventually ends when the life of falseness has eclipsed our heart's desire to love, truly--to be real, truly.  We nearly die in order to live, and becoming UN-numb is certainly a road less traveled by most humans.

When THAT kind of un-numbing pain arises within us, we must address it, or die, and that is the work of a spiritual teacher, guide and pointer. Bruce's life is messy. His life reflects and reveals more pain than we think he can handle, and life is often challenging beyond all previous experience.

Like his character, we, too, are always being asked to take charge, have self-control, be creative, and move ahead past obstacles. There are may tricks that people use to jump over and around the blocks, but unless they are dissolved and merged within, they still kick us in the butt.

As is most people's lives, the Bruce Willis character got a good kick in his own heart to cut through the heart with searing pain.

The inventor of this transforming technology got a boot in his as well which woke him up to the far-reaching impact of playing God by eliminating God in people's life. They both had the depth of pain that woke them up to the fact that being real, loving, and remembering, although painful as a human, is better than living a life of trickery and avoidance of living the human life fully. This includes everything that we wish we didn't have to face, feel, remember, or watch. 

Being real, in the end, and coming from the heart, always wins out over the mind, science, cleverness, slick tricks.

This is a great message for everyone to remember, for one day, that facing of ourselves comes. It is like a rite of passage into maturing as a loving soul. One day we are asked to be human...and that means to LOVE under all of life's many messy circumstances.

Bruce and the character he portrayed, let messy be acceptable, and even preferable.

Eventually, even the most addicted, most stubborn, most afraid, and most hurt, most lost, find that waking up into what is Real, true, honest, and genuine is a farr better way to live, that to live the lie of a false life.

Enjoy the film, and let it awakened you more to becoming an authentic, loving, and real human being. If you do remain alert during this film you will see bits and pieces of your own life waking up to becoming more connected, truthful, alive and more available to life--with exactly how things are.

Post 16: A MICHAEL JACKSON Commentary: My Experience with Michael Jackson--CATCHING LIGHT IN A BOTTLE!

There is a 'celebration of musical light' moving around the world!

Hi, it's Jeannie Fitzsimmons, with both a post/commentary here, and my Hollywood videos on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame this week so look for them to 'appear' this coming July 4th weekend!

I am joining in...how about you?

It is a global gathering of witnesses to one soul's life--a life whose contribution we cannot ignore. 

IN THIS COMMENTARY/POST I, too, am celebrating my own experience of having met Michael Jackson and The Jackson 5 and sharing my  view of this phenomenal event in our musical culture!

Not since the passing of Princess Diana in the United Kingdom, have we had the feeling of the passing of Royalty. This time, the man and his music is not Frank Sinatra or Elvis. Now it is MICHAEL JACKSON! 

I believe Michael Jackson represents 'our joy factor'!

Beginning this week of July in 2009, it is a week where people can be heard asking a question not asked since the passing of JFK, Elvis or Princess Diana.

The question? Where were YOU when Michael died? What were you doing when Michael passed away? Where were you when you heard the news that 'the music died'? Why is it such a shock around the world?

Yes it is that much of a global impact in the world of music, of Pop, and in the African American communities. Youngsters around the world will forever be idolizing this young Jackson 5 breakout, this global celebrity. Jackson had friends around the world, loved the classic beauty of women and had Dame Elizabeth and powerful Diana Ross as two of his finest friends. The world of music was awed by his surprises, his wisdom, and his innocence. He was a shrewd businessman, and yet created an entire village, as OPRAH would say, to care for him and fulfill his every whim. Have any of you ever wished you could be the GENIE and command that kind of power with the wave of your hand.

This is a great responsibility he had, as well as express his gifts, radiate his love, his music, and his mastery in manifestation in this world. He was rather like a teacher/master who could manifest at the speed of his thought. Another man who was like this is Uri Geller. I met Uri on a trip to London for he was a dear friend of the European advertising executive I went to visit. We sloshed through the muddy English countryside while getting to know each other.

Uri loved Michael Jackson, and spoke of him in glowing terms  Uri's family was a bright, shining beacon as we spent the day together, and his ability to manifest before one's eyes was impressive...much like Michaels.

I walked into the kitchen with Uri, as he pulled that famous 'spoon bending' demonstration, signed it for me. I had to laugh. We had teach and then we sat is his webcam-ready room with the most beautiful crystals I had ever seen.

My experience of Uri was as a magical man with much of the same energy, love, and ability to 'see', coming from the heart of love. He is a very straight- shooter, and straight-talker so not much gets by him. We had very frank discussions, jousted a bit, and laughed a lot. He put Michael Jackson's music on in one of the rooms after he discovered I was also a singer/songwriter, and he had met many of the people I had worked with over the years.

As I saw him on the interview following Michael's passing, he was that same direct, high-integrity and mystical man. He warned Michael, and fought for his life when he saw something that was not healthy and appropriate.

What is it about Michael that so elicits love from people's heart? What is it that awakens the joy and makes people smile and dance, feel uplifted?

It is simply love.

To honor him--straight from the heart of the child within, regardless of age, cultures, race, or religion, people with tears in their eyes are placing teddy bears, candles, flowers, and heartfelt messages that cover walls, gates, hedges, and sidewalks around the world.

It is the fans of Michael Jackson that are fanning the flame of his light and somehow it seems that the child in all of us has suffered a loss!

How could this have happened, and of all times now...people are asking?

After selling 750,000 tickets to his sold out THIS IS IT London, England concert series...ah to leave at the very height of anticipation and his 'return'. Brilliant, sad, odd, and in the Divine Play--right on time. There couldn't be a more dramatic turn of events to accentuate his presence and to make us fall in love with his music all over again. 

WHAT AN EXIT! This is well beyond the 'Elvis has left the building' statement that has been spoken for decades. This is drama, shock, and remembrance for a celebrated entertainer that has never been seen before. Now add the modern technology and the world collapses immediately--right in the middle of the love people have for Michael Jackson and the family, who has been part of our lives for nearly 5 decades.

I share my perspective in a commentary here for I met him when he was a part of The Jackson 5. During that time I was a singer on a hit show at CBS-TV. He was about 8 years old, and I was just 19, when this group and amazing performer came on the scene, as they made the rounds onto variety television shows of the 1970s.

I worked, traveled or sang with classics like Cher, Anne Murray, Glen Campbell, Tom Jones, Julie Andrews, Jerry Reed, Waylon Jennings, Dottie West, Johnny Cash, Linda Ronstadt, Engelbert Humperdink, Dionne, Johnny Mathis, and dozens of others as I sang, did acting comedy sketches and backed up some of the most famous musical talents of the 'music of our lives'. Dottie West, Anne Murray, and Dionne Warwick have recorded my songs, too.

What was a rush, and I was fortunate to see and be on the stage with Michael Jackson when he was the embodiment of that innocent, young, overflowing and blooming performer that was fearless, joyous, and riveting. After their rehearsal on stage, we singers had the opportunity to meet and mingle with the family. Their father was off side giving them direction, and notes. I had a few minutes to talk with Michael, a very old Soul as they say. He was deep, yet innocent, funny and shy, yet solid and approachable. He was the lead singer, and he knew his role with the Jackson 5. The brothers were gracious, fun, and respectful, soft-spoken.

Since I had been on this TV show for a couple of years already, there were several guest stars, singers or musicians each week. Most seemed to have 'that charisma' and it was in an energy around them--a 'look' is what I called it.

Michael HAD IT!

I had seen that special look before in the face of another young actress who often came to do some acting sketches on our show...Jodie Foster. In both intuitions, I was right they simply 'had it'...that charisma that every performer would dearly love to bottle!

Well, someone HAS captured light in a bottle-his name?            Michael Jackson!

His vision and innovative pop music spans several generations and amidst controversy, confusion, pain, and rumor, the electricity of his heart's flowering lives on, and is rippling around the planet this week.

How do we know? Record stores are sold out, downloads of his albums have been crashing websites, and people are flocking to both his beloved NEVERLAND estate in Los Olivos, California, and the Jackson home in Los Angeles, as well as thousands visiting in front of the Chinese Theater, on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame to adorn his star--right next to the famous Kodak Theater. American Idol final events, andd the Academy Awards grace this Hollywood street with red carpet covering the street and stars dripping with diamonds and glamor walking and sharing with people viewing around the world. 

Half a billion people went to the STAPLES CENTER site to join in the global lottery, hoping to get into the last-minute memorial.

This is where we saw the Academy Awards being bestowed on those whom we love in the entertainment industry. This is also the place where AMERICAN IDOL judges and our country chose Kris as its 2009 American Idol! (More on previous POSTS for more information and commentary.) This is a street of much beloved history!

These fans simply want to cover that star with their love. Teddy bears, flowers, tears, photographs, signs, candles, and more, literally cover the street messages of love and missing and are hung of the protective gates surrounding this Michael Jackson star.

It is the time of True Freedom for all of us on this celebration Fourth of July Weekend. Michael is liberated from this physical life, however we will miss his King Of Pop form.

So what was it that cause his spirit to take flight?

How did he die, what caused it? These questions will be answered as forensic and science do their CSI best. This past week revealed, what many people would say is the untimely passing of a musical icon, a musical child prodigy, a visionary, and a passionate lover of humanity. All of this, in the person of someone called Michael Jackson.  Truly, like everyone, we are spirits soaring through this life. Michael simply left when many were not ready for him to be gone. The perfume of life, wafts over our experience and to the people we meet. Life is fleeting, but love is enduring and eternal.

I describe our personalities that cover over our spirit or soul in this way, for that was simply his 'covering', as the global superstar he lived during this life. This was his destiny. There is much more to this story and event during this time and is like a rose unfolding in the news.

Like many entertainers, he 'altered' his covering, his skin, his face, his nose, and no doubt, he simply didn't eat much or did use drugs--his body too, in a much deeper way.

There is a reverberation, and an ignition that his life, as well as his death have as an impact on millions in our world. And, like Jackson, we also all have a 'covering' and a name that was given to us don't we? We alter it in whatever way we do during our lives. Gain, lose weight, and color our hair, tan our skin, and either keep the body well and healthy, or cause it from our habits contrary to optimal health, to be ill. We can do much to keep our body well--or not. 

The same is true with our spirit. We can walk through this life asleep or awake, Loving or wanting it--all the while pushing it away. We can look at life from eyes of love, or look at it from the view of lacking, a victim, or not loving. What would you rather have?

Michael, in his spirit, and no doubt his inherent wisdom and journey through this life as a Pied Piper and Peter Pan kind of energy. He was a subtle kind of master--of both hearts and illusion, creativity and expression that mesmerized touched that heart of a child...that heart that is within everyone. Regardless of his own childhood, he had that thorn in his own heart driven there perhaps by the role his father played no doubt, to make him continue to stay in touch with the child in himself and all people. His personality appeared to crave innocence.

People aren't used to acknowledging it as they grow into adulthood. We follow the leader, forget our hearts, leap up into our heads, and bury our childlike spirit for it isn't 'convenient' when we are supposed to be adults, act our age, or 'grow up'. We work, accomplish and wonder why we are unhappy, Does any of this sound familiar to you or someone you know?

In addition to Michael Jackson, each of US has a destiny as well--and we are right on track regardless of what it may look like right now.

Michael Jackson was and will remain, music royalty.

The USA doesn't have Kings and Queens, except those who are either self-described or whose lives are larger than life and they receive what I would coin a 'media-moniker' as such, by others.

In Michael Jackson's case, all people had to do is hear a couple of bars of the droning, deliberate beat of the rhythmic dancing music to know what was about to come. People's joy-factor would rev up, their heart would be alerted, at a very primal level, and they would know there were to get ready to dance!

Yes this wiry, fluid energy, elfin-like lover of Peter Pan has passed from our physical plane. He would probably say that Peter Pan passed away, for he so identified with his Peter Pan-like 'NEVERLAND' ranch. It was his place of safety, beauty, and fueled that magical quality of the child never growing up, growing old, or losing that spark in the heart of one's self.

I say this because his radiating joy and loving energy, along with the dust of love he sprinkled through his music, heart, presence and passion...let alone his destiny, will continue to ignite like time-release capsules into the musical world, well past his life here on earth. 

WHY DID HE COME AND GO IN THIS WAY?

We have needed his sparkle, his grandness, his musical vision, his courage to reinvent how music is danced, written, expressed and presented--for there was an energetic joy-drought in our world. We needed to be jump-started back to our own childhood, and much of Jackson's music was that bridge back.

Michael Jackson lived an unlimited style of expressing his joy and gifts. Glitzy, excessive, outrageous, beyond belief events, moments, moves, costumes, and professions of his humanitarian vision caused people to reach further beyond themselves. Musicians and dancers emulated, modeled, and copied his style. His dedication and commitment to the art of music and entertainment will be his legacy.

He is a global entertainment role-model of musical genius regardless of the oddities of his eccentric personality, rumors of his sexual exploits or possible misdeeds, and the various macabre behaviors that have been shown on a repeating loop of video, in the media over the past 2 decades. 

Something to Remember:

His personality is not the spirit of this soul, and none of ours are either. We often forget that we are not the roles we play, but the soul, energy, spirit, love, and source that flows us as this individual in this life. We have a role to play and it is always perfectly timed.

Michael was fearless, innovative, talented, and had individual leadership with his eccentric twist and uncompromising perfection driven personality. Yet, he was fearful, rigid, and controlling about most aspects of his life, driven by his own dreams and visions.

He is the most revered maestro of pop. Often called the King of Pop, he is the new generation's ELVIS, and MARILYN MONROE combined.  He wanted it all, wanted to recover what he felt he lost, wanted to express from every pour, wanted to do what he could to heal the entire planet, and wanted to be loved by all who gazed upon him. He gave it, and he wanted it back. He often said so in the recent reruns of interviews. Raw, open, and honest.

THE EVENT in JULY 2009, is the lottery-style ticket marketing to the MEMORIAL SERVICE TO MICHAEL JACKSON here in Los Angeles, California. This leveled the playing field for world-wide fans. Although only USA citizens can purchase them, no doubt the TV's and streaming events will be around the world.

Well I did register to have the opportunity to join in this added event here in LA---one huge witnessing and celebration as a global event of the passing of a light!

Regardless of anyone's opinion, the facts of the love for this pop superstar is a fact. Separating fact from fiction is what fans do, regardless of why. They simply love. We need to do the same with everyone in our own lives.

Have a wonderful July 4th Weekend! Have a happy and a blessed time loving your family, and friends, and sharing your heart with those you love, for we never know when they may simply disappear from our life, our eyes, and our arms.

What a day!

Farrah Fawcett And Michael Jackson: 2 icons leave this earth on this very day.  

I remember being with both of these beautiful people.

One was with Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 on the Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour at CBS-TV...and yes he was VERY young.I was also very young and a teenager.

And secondly, I was flying up to Seattle with Farrah Fawcett, to shoot a Western Airlines TV Commercial. We were the gals in the 70s and 80s, all over Hollywood, doing TV, commercials and Guest-Starring appearances. Then one day...she became Charlies Angels 'Jill'. Her life changed completely. Both of these stars are world-wide phenomenons from TV, music, beauty, courage, and celebration!

Farrah is the original television pop princess Queen of the Poster icon from the 70s and star of Charlies Angels, and Michael Jackson is the King of Pop--transforming the experience of music through decades and generations with his music, joy, performance, and abundant creativity.

Seeing Michael Jackson recently on the AMERICAN IDOL show when he gave his musical guidance is quite a different experience from Farrah's last legacy of the documentary through her brave, and visible fight for life and her cancer treatments.

Both have impacted our culture. The flipping of a blond feather-haired actress's hair, continue to this day. Her poster will no doubt go into reprints and end up on yet another generation of kids' walls.

One is on television and film, and the other is music around the world and influencing musicians from You Are The World, to BEN, to Thriller, and so much more.  He was limitless, had drive, was an unstoppable jet-propelled talent who simply burned out too soon.

Watching this media covering of the passing of Michael Jackson and the shock of his sudden passing is like watching Princess Diana leaving our midst. The Princess of Hearts around the world, and the King of Pop as well as the Princess of Monaco. There are a few of those icons who have touched people in ways, and with their charisma, that simply cannot be explained.

Gatherings, tears at sunset, helicopter movement of his body to the coroner, singing his songs in the street, remembering when they saw him in concert, honoring him and his music and showing the love all over the world.

I am filled with gratitude today. I can move, dance, sing, write, love, travel, and am healthy. I can give, I can share my heart, and I can be happy. I can LIVE.

I encourage everyone to see where you can share your life, gifts, passions, and love with others.  While we are still here, and we don't know that moment when our last breath will occur, we can live, love, and give. 

So the KING OF POP and the ANGEL OF GOLD on Charlie's Angels may be gone, but their love, talent, sparkle, charisma and remembrance of a life well lived with linger long after they have passed as forms from our life.

This week silenced many performers.

The voice and Court Jester of Johnny Carson in the form of Ed McMahon is also laughing in the ether's, Many hearts are filled with sorrow today, but under every tear is a belly laugh of joy.

Remember that the image we use while we are dancing here falls away from us as we return to love, light, and joy when we drop this sheath of limitation.

May your life be blessed with a long, healthy, and happy one.

Post #14: MY COMMENTARY ON FREEDOM, STARDOM, DESTINY, AND OUR CULTURE OF FAST FOOD FAME!

What does Hollywood have to do with freedom? We never know what we are going to 'get' do we? It is truly a box that has a bow of desire, and until it is opened...mystery!

What IS freedom anyway? It is whatever WE decide. How did I make that leap from one topic to another? Freedom, destiny and culture. I will build some bridges as I comment on my point of view and experiences over the years.

Easy for me to comment at many levels, for I have had direct experience with both from the inside out. I have been near, sung, traveled, worked with, acted with, written with, and even OK, had affairs with--stars, and I have been starring in many projects myself. It was not over night, and it was not the kind of stardom that is a world-tabloid kind of success. I simply worked, studied, worked and studied.

Hollywood WAS my freedom. Hollywood was what allowed me to leave South Dakota.

My personal world in Hollywood was a slow-to-burn into a fire life, that was designed from the time I was a very young child until my own acting and music work for a solid 3 decades in Hollywood. Stardom...well that was for a few and I watched many friends take that ride to stardom during the 70s and 80s. I was only a mini-star as friends have labeled my experience as an actor during the 80s. OK. I have never understood my destiny until I saw this and was taken in a direction far from the lights of Hollywood.

This is a paraphrase of a beloved Sage of India...Sri Ramana Maharshi.

No matter what we may attempt, work for, and be focused upon happening, if it isn't meant to happen it will not, and the reverse: if we don't have any intention, work for or want 'it', if it is in our destiny it WILL happen no matter what our resistance may be to having it happen.

Our destiny in life is a very interesting and curious unfolding. How much to we make happen, and how much do we let happen for it is going in that direction regardless?

I have found this statement about destiny and our inability to control it, to be absolutely true. I have also seen it in my friends, stars, and non-star lives over these past 4 decades. Truth be told, I had to 'wake up' out of my Hollywood dream and awakened into what the Hollywood dream is a part of. I know that sounds SO esoteric.

So what is this 'freedom and Stardom I speak of here? Stardom as the 'carrot' of a life dream fulfilled, in order to be happy. Have you ever heard the stories of those who are NOT happy and are famous? Many, and but for the PR machinery, and 'spin by handlers', you would hear a lot more.

Well freedom to me was 'making it in Hollywood' for that is how I was raised, dreamed and trained, and to the degree that I allowed that to happen in the 70s, 80s and 90s before I watched my own world crumble, tear apart and the veil of imagined and made up happy-life tear away, this was my experience. 

Well, yes, for I even had starring roles in many Pilots, TV shows, spin-offs and all of the episodic shows on TV at that time, great agents, and a doting manager. I was on the road to 'making it'.

What is 'making it'? In Hollywood terms it is being celebrated by the world. The components are varied but the principles are the same. Loved, hated, remembered, gossiped about, remembered, quoted, revered or rejected...all of it can make one famous or infamous.

Fame and everything that goes with it. it is being a 'star' and commanding huge salaries, having a big fan following, even having others promote you. For many however it is losing your private life, having the paparazzi 'dog' your every step, jumping in and out of relationships with the 'other girls' guy' or any combination thereof, and making sure your 'sex-tape' gets out there:) Good publicity is bad, and bad publicity has become good, and getting into rehab for the umpteenth time is just fine with everyone, for the root for the 'comeback kid' or the 'underdog' is more important than to root for living a life as a true role-model. Just how I see it.

OK I jest a bit, but that is what it has turned in to over the past decade or so. Well, what I discovered it that happiness, the desire to BE happy, is the real 'carrot of life'.

I think I will call it FAST FOOD FAME!

Fame, wealth, adoration, fans, a voice others listen to--managed by great PR and a strategy.Unfortunately there is a downside, too. Fame in the 40s or 60s or 80s doesn't look at all like it is in this new Century and nearly 2010.

The not-so-bright-side of FAME:

Loss of a personal life, loss of privacy, and often times, loss of a center of ones life. Those who have remained at the pinnacle of success have gone through the fire of not only their own lives, but their career life as well. Some have had several marriages, some have lost and re-found their careers and successfully reinvented themselves.  Everything is now visible, warts and all for the voyeurs of the world to live a life in observation, rather than living, growing and self-discovery. This is a society of cameras in all of life's nooks and crannies...and all too often, way to intimate.

:Art has become life, imitated--then filmed and reacted to, as if it is real."  Jeannie

Some like Dame Joan Rivers...I say that respectfully, for she has continued to have a brilliant career, while also enjoying the camaraderie of her celebrated daughter as well, have reinvented themselves a dozen times from the early days on the various shows a a stand-up. Some lost their spouses to suicide as she did years ago. Now suicide happens often in our society as a 'way out' and to 'excape the inner madness'. You know what I mean.

Whoopi speaks of going through the 'food stamp' period. Some have lost a child like the Newman's, and now the Travolta's and many others. Some have found their children in rehab programs multiple times. There are too many to list here, for so many parents lost their child while enjoying their success and stardom experience.

Ah stardom. The Walk of Fame star on Hollywood Blvd or 'adjacent' streets...have you noticed that the first question most often out of the interviewer mouth when a 'star is bestowed' is "who are you next to" on the sidewalk? That is how crazy it has become in the Hollywood real estate of Fame Stars. Quite amusing isn't it?

Also stardom means to receive the invitations to the big events, and the love of a fan base.

All well and good and some have 'instant' fast-food fame like Susan Boyle, and fortunately after a visit to the mental hospital for rest and recalibration of one's life...will emerge a tremendous true singing star---with a little help from her 'friends':) of course.

Where is happiness in all of this? What is truly satisfying? What gives one that sense of ease of being in the midst of a storm, chaos, ups and downs, and the glory of fame?

Show business life has become what I call 'living tabloid and exploitation life', with the reality TV shows topping the ratings race for over a decade...on all channels. The touchstones of this culture: Fast technology, fast growing up, fast communication, and fast wisdom--so people think:)

I was spared, or in some circles during that time...robbed and 'missed the boat'.

I had the motion, Rogers and Cowan were my publicists, agents were top shelf, and work was plentiful. Life was good. Managers went through my closets and redesigned my wardrobe, and my gay friends took me to SAKS for a fitting in the classics. Oh yes, the limo's stopped by my small 'maid's quarters' door to scoop me up for a special dinner at Dan Tana's on Santa Monica and for a night at the Improv next door to see the comedian of the month. 

So what happened?

Fate, or destiny intervened.

I called out to the Universe to show me HOW TO BE HAPPY, beyond any of the glitter, sparkle, and stage of Hollywood. I was frightened, had stage fright to beat the band, was shy and as my manager said to me one day, "You are not a KILLER" and if you are going to make it in this business, beyond your talent...you have to become one."I wanted to know how to NOT be run around by my tender emotions, and reactive mind. I wanted to be happy, and to be free. I didn't KNOW what I was really asking for.

Cut to 2 decades later.

Life is simple, and some would say 'lazy', for I don't punch a clock, have no boss, and no one owns this life. I am free to produce, write, teach, broadcast, live wherever I choose, be in LA or not, have great friends, a wonderful, bright and supportive partner, and do work that gives people an inner-stability beyond the 'fast food' of anything in life.

Fame, reputations, ideas, success, and our bodies themselves are fleeting. What is this freedom I speak of? Ahh...inner peace, relaxation during stressful challenges, and the ability to be resilient no matter what the drama looks like. That is freedom to me.

Our inner peace, sanctuary of inner wisdom ignited, and awareness or enlightenment is eternal. Our ability to access it...ah therein lies the 'rub' as they say--is the great challenge of our heart and our time on this earth.

How do we find happiness in a fast-food-fleeting-fame in a finite world? Very purposefully, very lovingly, and from our heart, for the head doesn't know where to find it. 

Which would you rather have? Fame or freedom? What IS freedom to YOU?

Only you know, and no rising star, no fame, and no fortune can replace the inner peace and rest that knowing that age old answer to the question of 'who am I'? can ever quell or satisfy.

 What would you rather have? Hmm worth pondering? Sure.

Whatever the Universe has in store for me now that I have been 'touched to come back to Hollywood', life will reveal it to me. Whatever it is I will speak of the happiness that has nothing to do with stardom or stage fright.

Oh yeah,I may need to become a star in order to talk about it though:) Gee, I could become an overnight success!

Post #13: DREAMING THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM NO MATTER WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE?

Are your dreams coming true? How early did you start to dream?

MY SECRET FOR YOU LATER DOWN THE PAGE:)

Mine dreams are coming true, except they NEVER look like I thought they would or happen in the time I thought they would. Can you relate?  I even worked at Disneyland, so I had an entire SUMMER of fairy-dust on me during that time:) to help them along.

OK I jest.

When I finished my Disneyland experience and being on the road, performing, singing and dancing around the country, I even rented an apartment from one of the owners of the still famous Hollywood restaurant and club called THE MAGIC CASTLE.

I was SURE that my dreams would come true for I lived in a magic man's house. Never mind that I ruined an entire set of pot and pans trying to get some rest when the upstairs house was rented by a famous rock group. What a time!

When you were a child, did you bend your knees and bow your head--hoping to have your dreams show up in your lap? I did--and I always thanked HIM and blessed others in my family to tie it all up at the end of the prayer. 

Do you know what I am pointing to here? Is is OK to have a great and wondrous dream!

Everyone needs to let themselves OFF THE HOOK! Thinking doesn't always make it so, but it is a nice philosophical statement.

In my life experience, and my deadlines on a paper also don't necessarily make it happen in the zone of time my limited mind sees on a calendar. OK some things you can do that way, but SOME dreams are not put on our finite calendar, run by 'our mind', for they are on a galactic, and consciousness calendar.

Tools: Vedic astrology and the Akashic Records or even the Mayan Calendar are revealing for those who wish to explore in those directions.

This is the 'flaw of attraction' in the 'law of attraction' in my experience as a spiritual teacher and releasing instructor as well as a successful producer and actor in my initial former 'life'. What FLAW? Thinking we can create it all in the perfect way, and in the preferred timing, according to our mentors, inner work, and goal-setting strategies. HA!

Even though I am a published author and have a book on the Law of Attraction a Special Edition...things are not as they seem in this universe, and people are beating themselves up trying to force a square peg in a round hole.

I realized a long time ago that my dreams were childhood events, and in my young mind, I knew I could manifest ANYTHING if I wanted it badly enough. Isn't that how we are all raised?

We are told WE CAN--No Matter What, as our parents prop us up and build our self-esteem. It MAY be so, but who is to say HOW and WHEN? Ah this is where it gets sticky in terms of our opinion, attitude, and sense of success and failure as seen through the eyes of a society, and humanity. There is more to this story than simply taking in the adult 'programming' of what is possible, for our tendencies, decisions, reactions, and conditioning also play the role in our results.

Is there more? YES! There is destiny beyond any of our ability to know what is coming.

It is as if WE are seeing the entire movement of the universe, from on high, and we cannot. We beat ourselves up, and judge ourselves and others so very harshly if we don't get 'what we want when we want it', and especially if "THEY" say we 'should' be getting 'it' by now. That comparison stick becomes our self-hatred not good enough stick.

HERE IS ONE OF MY SECRETS FOR YOU!

I have often worked with my own inner exploration with this tag line in tow and you really have to be ready for this one, too.

My Goal___(whatever it may be)___-: "in alignment with my freedom--no matter what it looks like." Boy that really gives you 'pause' for whenever I say that, tagged at the end of my goals, MY hands are OFF of it, and God's Hands or the Divine Hand's are running the show.

Well, not that it isn't like that all the time, but we are under the illusion in my opinion, that we are in charge:)  Ha! I have proven over and over, that I am not in charge, and that something MUCH greater than my little mind IS!

If you use this statement above, and add it onto your own goal with sincerity and truthfulness---ah the KEY--whether a goal be about money, relationship, health, career, life in transition, or any other topic, you will see heaven and earth move in a way that YOU could never have thought of.Maybe what I am saying here is an 'inconvenient truth' but is my direct experience.

If I had continued to PUSH THE RIVER, rather than flow with it, my own life would look so very different and so would yours. To our detriment, and our health, our marriages, and our emotional life, we THINK we are in charge, rather than letting the Divine take its course, in IT'S time, and take US TO our destiny.

Yes, have your dreams, take your action, and then truly...LET GO, surrender it, and trust that all is well, for without that, we get ill, are depressed, unhappy, always fall short, feel like a failure, and never have enough.

We want MORE, MORE, MORE, and even then it doesn't satisfy. Satisfaction in in the moment, and the destiny knows what it is doing. It is in the LOVE of this moment, with US being happy.

I can promise you that this statement tacked onto your goals, will shake up your life, and your idea of how things should be, but give it a whirl...and see what happens. I would LOVE to know!

May all of your dreams of your heart come true and that you live free, and happy!

Post 12: COMING BACK TO COMEDY...The Divine Has A Funny Bone!

Comedy...the hardest thing to do is comedy. Are YOU funny? Are you the life of the party, always remembering the jokes, or getting into simply hysterical situations...and live to tell others about it? I could never remember other people's jokes so I didn't consider myself funny--but a spectator.

I was WAY too shy in my youth, and yet somehow odd, peculiar, and OK, funny---on the goofy side, from what I have been told.

For someone who, as an actress for decades, but who has hidden in characters, played detectives, dippy blonds, scientists, corporate executives, nurses, reporters, women's libbers, and even hookers in a Rock Musical Comedy on stage, actually DOING comedy would scare me more. During the time I was spokeswoman for hundreds of TV commercials, I would get coupled up or put on a job that was simply funny, goofy, a little off-centered eccentric.

For a few examples: On the 'way back machine', with Variety Television flourishing in the 70s and 80s and hoping over from my STAGE at CBS-TV to see the Carol Burnett Show run through before taping, I would be on set with the Smother's Brothers on a Lone Star commercial, or  Pat Paulsen Half-A-Comedy Hour, or with Jayne Meadows, and funny-man Art Metrano, then with with Three's Company, Richard Kline on a Secret deodorant job, with Rex Harrison on a spool FORD job recreating the Race at the grandstand from his film, or do comedy sketches on the Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour, or Julie Andrews Hour, or with Bill Cosby on Jell-O, and then even James Garner on Rockford Files---as a goofy blond, decked-out and heading to the theater role, but really was surprised when my co-star was a tall can of Pringles...and playing catch with a rigged can.

I list these for myself to remember and to remind ME of my funny bone, now that I am still here and have begun to laugh and hold my sides again this month. Why? Here's why. Well now that my true comedy pal from decades ago, Fred Smoot, has reentered my life, I cannot 'keep the lid on', so to speak, any longer. During the time I was acting and in Hollywood, I enjoyed the company of many comedians, both on the road as well as socially.

On the road people like:  Don Rickles, Bob Hope, Dean Martin, George Burns, Alan King, Fred Smoot, Steve Martin, Buddy Hacket, and many others, for I was in Las Vegas as well as on the road as an opening act for several years during my teens and early 20s. Socially I knew and adored Dudley Moore, Anthony Newley and others....and always was holding my side with unbridled laughter in their presence, or peeking around the curtain as they were our opening act when I traveled with THE KIDS NEXT DOOR--all around the country. Of course David Black, our Musical Conductor kept us in riotous stitches for three whole years.

I didn't see the humor in myself, but constantly got cast in that way both in TV, film and on commercials. What gives here? There were dozens of others, but I just never saw the humor in it until it got 'on the air'. Hmm, who am I?

I never understood what directors were seeing, for I saw myself as a straight-laced South Dakota girl with a very strict upbringing. Oh I guess those are the one that are most often the ones to 'ride off the rail' when the leash of parental guidance is off.

I know I have had a sense of humor, but becoming very serious in later years as an adult, I forgot to be funny and have fun. Can you relate? Life takes over and it gets VERY serious.

Well no more. It is time for FUN! I think being a cancer-survivor from last year must have given me a good ol' kick in the Divine Behind!

So what am I being drawn to now? Going to Comedy Clubs. I actually went to a comedy class, but didn't have the nerve to get up there and really go for it. I escaped, staying invisible, even though I attended the class. My host and comedy pal Paul Ryan, just lets it flow, and I am always laughing with him.

As 'a woman of a certain age', I may just go do some 'stand up comedy'. I have lots of stories to tell, some secrets to blow out, and some memories that actually have a funny-bone attached. Why not? I guess I will find out if I am still goofy. I could call it something like the 'Babyboomer Comedy Hour'.

Post 11: REVIEW "MY BROOKLYN HAMLET" ONE LIFE REFLECTED ON STAGE--DELIVERED THROUGH A WILLING AND TRUTHFUL HEART

Tonight I saw a play, one worth reviewing.

One woman, one story, telling the truth, and reliving it as the inner healing continues to blossom, and leave is fragrance of wisdom throughout the theater and into the hearts of those who are in the audience.

I watched this happen tonight in Hollywood as BRENDA ADELMAN performed her one-woman show, "My Brooklyn Hamlet", at the small under-99 seat theater. One doesn't need to have been born and raised in Brooklyn to enjoy it immensely for all one need do is 'feel', and stay in your seat for aspects of this is 'every family'. Brenda moves herself and her family's characters onto the stage with minimalistic artistry, endearing them to us, even through 'bad-behavior' and transparent events.

Attachment, addiction, women-child confusion, blind-belief in parents beyond all doubt, and hope and fantasy of a young woman holding onto her desired images rule. We were all taken into her Brooklyn Shakespearean-esque play--only because of a few times when she quotes her mother's artistic style, beyond the obvious emotional detachment that was the veil around her life.

Brenda's recall is a journey through all of the landmines, warts, hills, valleys, and foibles of human beings--with a couple of personal torture chambers tossed in for spice--and we all have them. I laugh when people describe themselves from a dysfunctional family---as if that is rare. This is why this play strikes each one, at some point, during the evening. No one's childhood is ever perfect, even if it is, for our mind interprets as we go, making up its stories.

Nevertheless, we are all children at heart--and often childlike in our emotions no matter how mature in years we may be. We still carry the heart of that child, and as such, can always return to that innocence when properly and gently guided back 'home'.

We can rewrite our reactions and decisions, and re-script our own memory which has been proven through 're-scripting therapies', 'play therapy', and well-known psychological processes. The mind made it up, and we can unwind out the mind as well. How much we believe what our mind says, is often the reflection of how much misery and suffering we have in 'our world'.

Although the majority of people rarely take the time, have the willingness, or use the innate courage that each person has at their disposal for true healing from within, those that do can be the way-shower for others.

This is what Brenda has done with her beautifully delivered soliloquy: the act of speaking while alone, especially when used as a theatrical device that allows a character's thoughts and ideas to be conveyed to the audience. This is like watching the process of diving into the rabbit hole and coming out the other end awake and alive--BECAUSE of what is in the experience, not in spite of it.

Her mother's quotes from Shakespeare's wisdom remind us of the undercurrent of truth under any perception  and point of view. Our limitation due to emotional filters and conditioning for our own sanity and safety were beautifully portrayed. We all saw what was taking place, but forgave the decisions, attitudes, and choices throughout, because in the same circumstances we have to ask...what would I have done?

As we all watched the very familiar swinging trapeze of emotional confusion and a life unraveling before our eyes, at the same time this play revealed the crumbling of family relationships-- relationships that were made from nothing real in the first place. What was revealed, was a woman becoming 'real' in spite of the in-authenticity of those outrageous characters in the eccentric family.

It begs the question--which came first, the need for a deep healing creating the characters we bring into our lives, or the characters who created the need for our healing? One way or another, we get what we need in this life, in order to love, forgive, and completely heal our hearts.

Whose Idea was this dream anyway? Healing happens in mysterious ways, and we all have our own 'special cast of characters' with which to heal through creating a rich opportunity in our lives to do so.

All any of us need to be is 'willing' with an intention TO heal, and to love beyond all drama, reason, and perceived circumstance. After all we all know that when we 'sleep on it' whatever that 'it' may be, when we wake in the next morning, we somehow see things differently. This is how all life is, if we let it be that fluid. What IS true, truth, real anyway?

Brenda's journey, is a beautiful weaving of drama, shock, denial, reflection, re-creation, subtle but powerful retelling of a series of events through a life that, although at the time, traumatic, are liberated from everyone, through humor, and resolve...something we all can use more of...forgiveness.

Why do this show, over and over and around the country? As she stated, "having performed this for 7 years, the forgiveness and insight still continues to discover more about her parents, and more understanding comes over time." The people in her life are blessed no doubt by the love she has for herself, enough to bring them even more to life as she performs this arc of life experiences. No doubt there is resolve in the heaven's whenever this is performed and love takes a long sigh.

My own life as been a tapestry leaving me feeling as if I have lived many parallel lives and incarnations in this one life. I don't doubt that many of you feel the same. Life seems to speed through our consciousness as it dances us along, in and out of the various experiences and dramas. I recognize this show, and love it. My own has been in process for several years to be put up on stage and this was a shot in the arm for my own gift of forgiveness and expression to bloom.

Life is a theatrical expression of our heart, our thoughts, and feelings with a supporting cast of people with whom we often take exception. Everyone is perfectly 'planted' to deliver their lines, to push our buttons, and to lay us out until that very healing can finally occur.

It is like watching a living love letter to those with whom you had a life contract and the one who loves, wins! Brenda wins BIG, and so does the audience. During the Q&A following it was obvious that 'the inoculation took and the healing has begun' for several in attendance.

As Shakespeare said: "To be or not to be, that is the question". Well, that is one question--but 'to be or not to be--that is is the answer', is more to the point!

In July watch for it and GO, for you will also 'be healed' simply by sitting in the face of Truth shared from the heart of well-earned wisdom.
